TUSC STAFF

The TUSC coaching staff is made up of female and male players from Austin, the greater Texas area, and beyond. In 2019 we brought the incomparable Yina Cartegena - one of the elite female players in the world - from Medellín, Colombia on staff!

Our staff includes players from college, club, and semi-pro teams, certified teachers and coaches, and dedicated Ultimate enthusiasts. We are committed to hiring not just the best athletes, but the athletes who believe in sharing their knowledge of the sport in creative and constructive ways, and promoting Spirit of the Game to the next generation. Colleen Kepner

TUSC Founder, Owner, and Director Colleen Kepner began her Ultimate career playing for Texas Melee, and went on to play for and captain a number of club teams including Texas Showdown.

Coach Kepner has been directing and coaching youth sports camps for over twenty years, such as the University of Texas RecSports Ultimate camp, the Nike Ultimate Camp, the National Ultimate Training Camp (NUTC), and more. She is currently one of the coaches for the Ultimate program at Kealing Middle School in Austin, as has served as USA Ultimate’s Girls Outreach Coordinator for the state of Texas. Coach Kepner is also one of the founders and general managers for Austin's professional women's Ultimate team, The Torch.

Stephen Presley

Stephen Presley returns to TUSC this year as our Elementary Head Coach. Presley is a former Callahan finalist, TUFF captain and All-Region selection for the South, Doublewide stand-out, and head coach for Westlake High School. He was also one of the founders and first coaches for the Youth Club Championship U-16 Texas Swing, and coached monthly Sol Academy clinics in 2018 and 2019. Look for him during the school year, when he's teaching elementary physical education in Eanes ISD!

Coach Stevie and Coach Kepner have been running ultimate camps together for twelve years. This year marks his fourth year as the TUSC Premier Elementary division Head Coach, and his first year as director for the TUSC Junior session in July.

Brett Gramann

Brett Gramann is a USA Ultimate College Nationals Semifinalist and two-year captain of UMass ZooDisc. He's also a two-time World Champion with Team USA Under-24 Mixed, and a World Silver Medalist with Team USA Under-19 Open. This spring marks Gramann's second season with the Austin Sol, and his club playing experience includes seasons with Doublewide (Austin), Ironside (Boston), and Texas Two Step YCC.

Gramann is a product of youth Ultimate programming in Austin, having played with Kealing Middle School and LASA High School (among others). He has coached at the Nike Ultimate Camp, the National Ultimate Training Camp, and TUSC 2017, 2018, and 2019. He returns to TUSC this year as our High School Elite Head Coach.

Cara Crouch

Cara Crouch started playing ultimate her first year at the University of Texas in Austin, where she captained Melee and was awarded the Callahan in 2005. Crouch went on to play club with Atlanta Ozone, captain and play for Texas Showdown, and play at the World Championships in Perth, Prague, and Lecco. She is one of the founding members and current players for Austin's professional women's team, the Torch. She also proudly represented the USA in the 2009 and 2013 World Games in Taiwan and Colombia. She has coached clinics in the UK and Croatia, coached the UT women’s team from 2008-2009, coached at NUTC (National Ultimate Training Camp). She coaches with Coach Kepner at Kealing Middle School, and coaches the Texas girls U-20 YCC team, Texas Tango for three years.

In 2019, Coach Crouch worked with her former player Brett Gramann to develop and implement curriculum for TUSC Elite.

Additional coaches and staff members will be qualified and experienced members of the Ultimate community. TUSC’s advanced skills clinics will feature guest coaches and visits from the AUSTIN TORCH, the AUSTIN SOL, and other elite college and club teams in the area. Stay tuned for more announcements and information about our staff!
